LINDSEY FERRENTINO is a playwright, screenwriter, and director who made her Broadway debut writing the book for The Queen of Versailles (The Colonial Theatre, The Saint James Theater). Her play The Fear of 13 (Donmar Warehouse, Olivier Nominee, Best New Play, Best Actor, starring Adrien Brody) moved to the James Earl Jones Theater on Broadway in 2026 and starred Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson. Her work includes Ugly Lies the Bone (Roundabout Theatre Company, The National Theatre, UK, NYT Critics Pick), Amy and the Orphans (Roundabout Theatre Company), This Flat Earth (Playwrights Horizons), The Year to Come (La Jolla Playhouse), and The Artist (Theatre Royal Plymouth).
Ferrentino is writing and directing a film adaptation of her celebrated play, Amy and the Orphans (Aggregate Pictures), writing a project based on Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Empire (Sony), and adapting Rebecca Yarros’ beloved novel “In the Likely Event” (Netflix), among other unannounced projects. MTC has announced a new partnership to commission new musicals. In collaboration with the Hermitage Artist Retreat in Sarasota County, Florida, MTC will develop new work by offering fellowships to musical-writing teams. “The Fear of 13” scribe and “Queen of Versailles” book writer Lindsey Ferrentino will pen a libretto, and Samuel Beam, also known by the stage name Iron & Wine, will compose original music for “The Orange Grove,” a Florida-set, modern retelling of Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard.”
